I paid for an annual Subscription, and halfway through the year, I cancelled my store. They would not give me a partial refund. Not impressed. The reason why I cancelled is that I migrated to Big Commerce. Shopify has very, very limited third-party payment providers, whereas Big Commerce, you can... Also, Shopify makes its money from 2.7% fees on each transaction, then you have the pay the PP. I could not find a payment provider that Shopify would accept, so I had no choice but to move to BigCommerce. Best decision I made. Shopify will lose more and more business for the two reasons I just mentioned. If you're going to start a small business use" BIGCOMMERCE"

I purchased a product from this seller under Order #8033, which has already been returned to them. Despite this, they have refused to issue my refund and ... I purchased a product from this seller under Order #8033, which has already been returned to them. Despite this, they have refused to issue my refund and are now completely ignoring all communication. I have contacted them multiple times through email and their website, and they have chosen to disappear. This seller is clearly operating fraudulently and using Shopify's platform to scam customers. The fact that such a business is allowed to continue using Shopify is deeply concerning and reflects poorly on your company's oversight of sellers. I demand immediate intervention from Shopify to hold this seller accountable and process my refund without further delay. If no prompt action is taken, I will be posting a public report on other consumer platforms, detailing Shopify's failure to protect customers from fraudulent merchants. This situation is unacceptable. Shopify should not be providing a platform for scammers to operate freely while customers are left chasing refunds.
I just want Shopify to know that I will never pay for their service out of spite for how absurdly loud their podcast adverts are. Go away.

Complicit in theft of money
Ordered via shopify and paid the seller. Within two days seller had vanished and I contacted you for advice! Many many weeks and messages later you still haven't responded. Many years have passed and Shopify remains and absolute trash. I will soon be leaving it. They just want your money but help with nothing. They don't care about business owners.

Shopify destroys entrepreneurs' work for no reason
I strongly advise any serious entrepreneur to stay away from Shopify. They shut down stores without clear explanations, hold payouts for weeks, and their support team keeps sending automated replies without actually fixing anything. They shut down stores without clear explanations, hold payouts for weeks, and their support team keeps sending automated replies without actually fixing anything. I've had multiple fully compliant stores terminated overnight, with no proof of violation. Even after they claim to have removed payout holds, nothing changes in the admin. Shopify pretends to support merchants, but in reality, they control everything and often keep your money under the excuse of a "security review." It's extremely frustrating when you work hard, handle real customers, and they just take everything down without accountability.
I have used Shopify for my online business for years without issue. Last November, I moved to a physical retail space and changed my business address without issue. It occurred to me that by changing my address, it might cause billing issues as my payment method would be linked to the wrong addre... I contacted support to check and was advised to change the address back to my online address. This caused all my stock to show as 'OUT OF STOCK' The advisor I was dealing with somehow overrode Shopify's security system (confirmed by Shopify) and split my inventory over both locations! This actually only came to light recently when I noticed customers being charged double for shipping! On contacting Shopify for assistance, I was told the only way to resolve it, is for me to pay for a Shopify Expert to fix it or download another app that can make bulk inventory changes (with no guarantee that won't make things worse)! I'm sorry but I didn't override your system or cause this issue, so why do I have to pay to have it resolved? Service staff are rude and obtuse
Seller here. They're expensive, there is minimal customer support, and you have to learn how to do the little things by making expensive mistakes. Shopify refuses pre-arbitration for merchants — even when the evidence proves the chargeback is invalid
I've been a loyal paying Shopify merchant for 8 years. When a customer filed a chargeback, and won, for an order that was delivered and confirmed, Shopify refused to escalate it for me — even though I provided clear proof of delivery and an email from the customer admitting the package was delive... When a customer filed a chargeback, and won, for an order that was delivered and confirmed, Shopify refused to escalate it for me — even though I provided clear proof of delivery and an email from the customer admitting the package was delivered and then stolen from their front door. Under Visa and Mastercard rules, this kind of dispute should not stand. But Shopify refuses to escalate cases to the card network (no pre-arbitration path), leaving small business owners to absorb the loss. Shopify's policy effectively makes the merchant financially responsible for theft that happens after a package is delivered — something that should be handled by law enforcement. Even Shopify Support acknowledged the problem in writing. My ticket (#60972583) stated: "I recognize that the ability to escalate a dispute with such clear evidence (customer admission of post-delivery theft) is crucial… Shopify's current policy prevents merchants from attempting pre-arbitration in cases like this, despite clear evidence that invalidates the original claim." I pay Shopify significant transaction fees, but when it mattered, they offered no real support — just policy walls. It is deeply unfair to merchants who can prove delivery.

Since receiving these emails I have been trying to contact them with no reply whatsoever. What they are asking for is very vague and I need further information but cannot get this. Every single day I wake up to these threatening messages. I cannot understand why they are treating their customers this way, to be frank it's disgusting and I am already looking for where I can move my business.

After that, the deposit then takes an additional one to three business days to show up in the Balance account. Our previous payout account for another Shopify store deposits money the next day. If you have sufficient cash flow to wait a week to get paid, Shopify Balance might be for you. If you are not a fan of companies holding your funds for multiple business days while claiming a transaction takes this long—and potentially accruing interest on your profits—then this is not your best option.
Absence of customer service results in loss of money for my business
I am a business owner using Shopify, but the lack of customer service is problematic. Since a week ago I am locked out of my own shopify environment, because of an issue with my login email address. Multiple outreaches for help to the customer service of shopify by email (as they don't have a phone number) are not answered- already for over a week! I am losing a lot of money and clients. This is very bad for my business. I am currently forced to connect my website to another e-commerce platform for online sales.
I ordered a 14-way Club Separation Meets Anti-Twist Innovation. I placed an order and paid my money on 8/12/25 and received an order number. Then I received an email on 8/18/25 saying the item had shipped. After a few days I tried to track the item and it would not work. I went back to the email ... I have tried contacting them many times and no contact. I am reaching out to Shopify to see if they are honoring items purchased from their platform. I am not looking for my money back, I want the golf bag I ordered.
Shopify has been a game changer for my business. It's made everything so much easier and to have everything in one place is a god send.

Shopify's POS equipment has never worked for us. They won't correct anything, but tell me there is a manufacturers warranty. The manufacturers warranty requires that I send the equipment back to be fixed, which means I have to close my shop as I'd be unable to do business. SHOPIFY DOESN'T CARE... I have made at least 20 calls to Shopify support to keep my system going. I would never have gone to Shopify if I knew they didn't stand by the equipment I bought from then.
Con-con-con-be very aware They choose to work with people who are fictitious and don't exist. Setting up a portal selling items that don't exist. The address they provide also leads to an alley way if you google it. Shopify are liars and should be shut down asap because the money that has been stolen from people is in the hundreds thousands from all the different stores and some how they still run. Do not use because they will not help you with anything and blame the seller. There promise is bullshit as well. This is just a huge ponze scheme that they are doing.
