Months have stretched since my sum up got blocked while you waited for fresh documents. I only got one email about it at first. Because I missed that note, there was no warning given. Driving a taxi, I notice the tap phone thing is instant and it takes away the hassle of card payments in the cab. But 5 G is needed to work properly.

Finished with this nonsense.

SumUp signed me up under my married name. I slipped up using a receiving bank account that still showed my maiden name. The gap between the two is just the 'Mrs' tag and my husband's name stuck on, doubled after my own surname. Since then I moved to Scotland and started a new business with him. When we opened Bank of Scotland together, I wanted the name on my SumUp account to change a bit, from Name & Surname, to Mrs Initial + Surname in Double-Barrel, so I can send money to the new account. Three weeks have passed with emails, sending my marriage license, my Passport as ID, my new bank statement, and more requests to close the case...besides their process being slow, it is the last straw that because the new account is a joint one, my husband must give his ID, which has nothing to do with simply changing how MY name is shown on MY SumUp account. This has been a joke from start to end, with the extra sting of feeling like I am faking something. I don't think anyone trying to cheat would last as long as I have, a real customer who just wants a minor name tweak and keeps facing a flap and fear. I have given every bit of ID and proof that I am who I say I am, but I am done with this pointless rounds. I am tired of repeating the same docs, and I keep sending every card again just to prove it is me. If they cared, they would fix the name the first time and stop wasting my time.

My Sumup ran smooth for nearly 3 years with no issues. Then out of nowhere I got an email saying they closed my account and referenced section 13! Reading section 13 shows a few reasons they can end an account, like fraud or odd activity and such... I could not sign in after the cut and all my receipts from yesterday vanished, a full day and night of sales gone!! I answered the message and got told to check section 13 again!! I filed a complaint with the support team and heard back, they were “looking into it,” which took 3-4 weeks. It works when it does, but when they mess with your business, you just want to stay away. I found a much better system now, and it costs less. It felt unfair how notice erased work. I didn't lose faith in fixes. I now talk with other sellers. My setup runs better, prices stay low.

I cant even explain how awful Sumup is

I tried to fix my TikTok bank details and saw it linked to my old SumUp account, with a name I no longer use. that I haven't touched in years. to change the bank info I rang SumUp to get a new card etc. Thats where the mess began. I rang on October 5th, I got an email asking for lots of info, which I sent. including my driving license, phone number, etc. since then, no word back, no reply, nothing. emails get ignored. today I spent more hours trying to log in again. I've given them all the details again, over and over. They want the Merchant ID, which I don't know because I can't access my account. 'Lily' said she knows I can't reach my merchant ID since I can't reach my account, yet that is still asked for. Seems the only way to access a bank account is through the merchant ID - a big flaw in policy. Emails to their complaints team go unanswered and they flat out don't care about your cash. or. help in any way unless you have your merchant ID. I gave them the last 4 digits of the bank, my phone number, even deposits into the account. The last payment from TikTok was £123.60 and they sent it back to TikTok. So whatever they're doing is seriously flawed. All they say is someone will call back, but they never do. now i must file a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman. A awful company and they aren’t UK based - no UK advisors. they’re all from America. Every time I call, I hear a script and nothing changes. I just want my money safe and my details removed from a dead file. If this keeps up, I will keep fighting this until it ends. I feel ignored, and I hate how slow they are with real help. Started using SUMUP on March 25, was told upfront that I’d get a half price account fee (£9.50 instead of £19 each month) and a half price terminal purchase with 0.99% transaction fees. I didn’t get the half price account charge, but I ended up billed £19 twice every month for six months. SUMUP says it’s a mistake, yet they won’t refund, only offer a £20 credit. It’s near impossible to reach anyone, and they didn’t answer my emails for five months. Based on my experience, I’d avoid them and tell others the same, because I feel misled and sold wrong. The salesman was Robert Platt, and he ignores my emails, texts, and calls. Save your cash and choose elsewhere. Avoid this whole thing.
