I applied for a personal loan from…
I tried for a personal loan at another bank where I keep savings and cds, but got refused. A car crash left me hurt and damaged my implant. In short, the dentist referred me to a place that wouldn't handle no fault claims or any insurance either. It was either cash or a loan through the bank they... In short, the dentist referred me to a place that wouldn't handle no fault claims or any insurance either. It was either cash or a loan through the bank they work with, which came with very high rates. The pain was bad and I couldn't wait, so I did what I had to do. After I felt a bit better, I called to ask about refinancing but they would not do that. I needed a loan fast because my credit score was taking a hit from this sudden emergency. In about 3 hours SoFi approved my loan at a fairly low rate and I could pay off the old loan and fix my score. They saved me and I am grateful in many ways. If anyone asks, I tell them SoFi is quick, friendly, and helps when you need it.

Don't get a HELOC or Home Equity loan thru SoFi
First off I should say SoFi seems fine for checking and savings... but DO NOT take a HELOC or Home Equity loan from them. They immediately pass it to a very shady firm named Spring EQ who then hands it to a debt-collector group called Shellpoint. Shellpoint is the very worst company I ever dealt ... They immediately pass it to a very shady firm named Spring EQ who then hands it to a debt-collector group called Shellpoint. Shellpoint is the very worst company I ever dealt with - you are treated like a deadbeat who skipped payments (I only had the loan for 1 month) and they are hard to work with. SoFi needs to do more due diligence when they offer you a new loan!

unreliable and untrustworthy bank
so heres how it went. I stayed with that bank since 2015, no problems, but in 2022 they shut down the business and wouldn't say why, and they wouldn't let me stay or appeal. later, in 2025 they offered me a chance to return with a small perk, I think about 350 dollars, if I came back. I did and then they said I couldn't come back after all, and apologized. I told them that email felt like a lie, since I believed the company wanted me back, but it didn't work out. I filed a complaint, asking how I should know what was sent and if others will face the same thing, because they knew they were stopping service and still sent me messages. I'm still getting emails with new offers. yeah, I complained again since they wouldn't let me appeal or return, and nothing was done. yeah, the company deceived me, stopping service and not giving a reason, only to email years later saying I can't join again but still telling me to return. so I tell you not to join this bank ever; they stop service for any reason, even if things look okay at first. these days.

SoFi came through for me in the clutch
SoFi stepped up when I needed it most. Going through a rough divorce left my credit and assets hit hard. I wasn't sure what cheap options would show up. The debt consolidation loan is knocking my payments down by over $9000 in total, and I'm glad they looked beyond my credit alone. I'm truly grateful and would tell anyone looking for a lender who actually cares to give them a try. It really made a difference.

Swift Results

SoFi handles things well: they review your loan quickly, APR rates are fair, funds go out without trouble, and they explain the loan steps clearly. I am a pleased customer and would tell family and friends to check them out.

You will not get back your money if you…
Trying to dispute with this place will not bring your money back, and the wait to return funds is longer than normal. The support rep has no real clue about what they’re doing. They won’t help you; this is a very bad place to deal with money you earned and saved. You can dispute all you want, you... I would not tell anyone to trust these folks with their cash, because they don’t know how to handle money. Your money means a lot, and if you care about getting money back after a sale, don’t put your funds here. I did not see a real fix or clear rule, only more questions and delays and more runaround from their side.
