Never ever buy from a store using this
Sadly I can’t rate it zero stars. Avoid buying here at all costs. They act like a cover for scammers, and as a buyer you’re left with nothing. I ordered, paid, and the seller vanished. I paid for an annual Subscription
I signed up for a yearly plan, and around midyear I shut down my shop. They wouldn't give me any partial refund. The reason I stopped is that I moved to BigCommerce. Shopify has very limited third-party payment options, while BigCommerce lets you pick any you want. Also, Shopify earns money from ... Shopify has very limited third-party payment options, while BigCommerce lets you pick any you want. Also, Shopify earns money from 2.7% fees on each sale, plus PayPal. I could not find a payment method Shopify would take, so I had to switch to BigCommerce. Best choice I made. Shopify will lose more customers for those two reasons I just named. If you're starting a small business, use BIGCOMMERCE. It wasn't only about price, but the limits and fees that kept stacking. That push made me switch, and I am glad.

I purchased an item from this seller under Order #8033, which has already been returned. Despite that, they refuse to issue my refund and now ignore all messages. I've contacted them mu... To Shopify Support Team, I'm filing a formal complaint about a seller on your marketplace — HealthSenseUSA.com. I purchased an item from this seller under Order #8033, which has already been returned. Despite that, they refuse to issue my refund and now ignore all messages. I've contacted them multiple times via email and through their site, and they have disappeared. This seller seems to be acting fraudulently, using Shopify’s platform to scam buyers. Having a business like this allowed on Shopify is worrying and makes your seller oversight look weak. I demand immediate steps to hold this seller accountable and to process my refund without delay. If nothing is done quickly, I will post a public report on other consumer sites detailing Shopify’s failure to shield customers from dishonest merchants. This is unacceptable. Shopify should not host scammers while customers chase refunds. Thank you for looking into this and taking timely action. I trusted Shopify to police shops fairly, and I expect that trust to be honored now. Time is of the essence; please respond soon.

Not terrible, just frustrating

The platform works, but the experience is exhausting. Small issues pile up and slow your workflow.

Complicit in theft of money

Many years have passed and Shopify…

Years have passed and Shopify still sticks around, but it feels like junk. I'm quitting soon. They only want cash and offer no real help. They don't care about shop owners.

If you run a real business, steer clear of Shopify altogether. Stores get shut with no reason, payments sit on hold for ages, and support just fires off canned replies instead of fixing problems. Stores get shut with no reason, payments sit on hold for ages, and support just fires off canned replies instead of fixing problems. I've had many legit shops closed overnight, with no sign of fault. Even after they say they’ve removed payout holds, nothing changes in the admin. Shopify acts like they back merchants, but really they pull the strings and keep your cash under the excuse of a “security review.” It’s so annoying to push hard, serve real clients, and still see your business wiped out without anyone taking responsibility.

Poor support for Shopify induced issues
I’ve used Shopify for my online shop for years with no problem. Last autumn, I moved to a real store and swapped my business address without any issue. It hit me that changing my address could mess with billing since my card would link to the wrong place. I called support to ask, and they told me... It hit me that changing my address could mess with billing since my card would link to the wrong place. I called support to ask, and they told me to switch the address back to my online one. That move made all my stock show as ‘OUT OF STOCK’. The agent I dealt with somehow went around Shopify’s safety nets (they confirmed this with Shopify) and split my stock between both spots! This only popped up later when I saw customers being charged extra for shipping! When I asked Shopify for help, they said the only fix is to hire a Shopify Expert or add another app that can do bulk stock changes (with no promise it wouldn’t mess things up more)! I’m sorry, but I didn’t override your system or start this mess, so why should I pay to fix it? Customer service folks were rude and hard to deal with. They never helped much, and I still feel stuck and annoyed.

looking for an alternative
Shopper here. Prices are high, support is scarce, and you learn the hard way from pricey mistakes. For the money, they should offer better help and a friendlier site to use. Also, my USPS stuff isn’t discounted, so drop that perk. It costs the same as taking it to the post office. One bright star... Shopper here. One bright star goes to inventory tracking and how easy it is to show products on your site. That part is decent, I suppose, overall.

Shopify refuses pre-arbitration for merchants — even when the evidence proves the chargeback is invalid
I’ve stuck with Shopify as a paying merchant for 8 years. When a customer filed a chargeback and won for an order that arrived and was confirmed, Shopify refused to escalate it for me. When a customer filed a chargeback and won for an order that arrived and was confirmed, Shopify refused to escalate it for me. Even though I sent solid proof of delivery and an email from the buyer admitting the package was delivered and then stolen from their doorstep. Under Visa and Mastercard rules, this kind of dispute should not stand. But Shopify won’t escalate cases to the card network (no pre-arbitration path), leaving small businesses to absorb the loss. Shopify’s policy basically makes the merchant shoulder theft costs that happen after delivery, something that should be handled by police. Support wrote back, acknowledging the problem. Ticket #60972583 said it all: escalations with clear proof are crucial, and current policy blocks pre-arbitration even when the evidence defeats the original claim. I pay Shopify big transaction fees, but when it mattered, they offered little real support—just policy walls. This feels unfair to merchants who can show delivery. I’ve spent years hoping they’d fix this, but nothing changed, even as theft grows and honest customers slip away. I keep paying fees, hoping for a policy update that protects small shops. Everywhere.

Hounded every single day by Shopify
Been with Shopify since 2010. Until last month I was happy with their service. What they want is vague and I need more information but can't get it. Every day I wake up to those threats. I don't get why they treat customers like this, honestly it's gross and I'm already looking to move my business. I am already checking other services and asking around to find a better fit for my store and my customers. This mess makes me want to switch soon now.

Still, they don’t tell you that your first payout sits for five business days. After that, the deposit then needs one to three more business days to appear in Balance. Our old payout for another Shopify store came in the next day. It stings when you watch sales sit idle and fees creep in every day. If you can handle cash flow gaps and waits, Shopify Balance could work for you. If you dislike firms holding your cash for several business days while saying a transfer takes that long—and maybe earning interest on your profits—then this might not be your best pick.

Orders still arrive (I get the alerts), but I can't fulfill them since I can't access my store. I have emailed Shopify support many times for help (no phone line), and there has been no reply for over a week. I'm losing money and clients fast. This is hurting my business. Right now I have to link my site to another e-commerce platform to make online sales. I can't plan promos, shipments slip, and the clock keeps ticking on losses. This is really frustrating.

I've yelled at support at least two dozen times to keep the system alive. I would have never picked Shopify if I knew they won't back the gear I bought. All this drama made me lose trust and also money from customers.

Honestly this platform feels awful. I got burned by a seller I trusted and the help from support never came through. The listing said vetted sellers, but the product never showed up and the contact details vanished soon after. I even tried the phone and email, and both were dead ends. The given address turned up as a dead link when I checked on maps, which made me doubt everything. It seems scammers can slip in, and nobody on the site steps in to fix it. They blamed the seller for my bad luck, not the system, and that annoyed me. My trust in this setup is gone, and I warn others to think twice before buying here. The lessons here are clear: protect yourself, research sellers, and save receipts.

Shopify Support is TERRIBLE.
Terrible, awful customer support. Their agents are outsourced staff who know little about much. I have been waiting over a week to fix a debilitating issue that has wrecked my store, and the only email says my account is fine and the issue is fixed (it isn't). I have been waiting over a week to fix a debilitating issue that has wrecked my store, and the only email says my account is fine and the issue is fixed (it isn't). Disappointing, another company should raise their game and push Shopify to actually become a usable company, because right now they won't change a damn thing being the biggest host for ecommerce. It feels like a waste, and I am stuck paying for a service that fails.

Interface is clunky and confusing

Editor is slow, navigation is inconsistent, and help docs are outdated. It makes debugging and onboarding a nightmare.
