I called to ask why, on hold for over an hour, and the line dropped because the agent couldn't sort it out. Then another rep wouldn't verify the identity of my 94 year old mom who was on the call with me. I'm taking all my money from PNC and won't come back. I hope you go out of business.

Do NOT use their bill pay!

It seems because they offer the highest rate, they don’t care about screwing customers. I spent six weeks asking for a refund of 12.93. Today they denied it. I’m pulling my money out. That’s not how this should work.

The new automated system is horrible

That new automated system is really awful. The old one worked great. Now in a noisy room you can't use it at all. Before you could mute and just press numbers and do anything you wanted. Who thought up this new system, anyway today?

Incorrect/deceitful info given

Calling the bank's line, I got bad info and when I rang to fix it I was told I misunderstood the details. The rep was rude and he laughed. I've heard conflicting answers from PNC many times. Everything about this bank feels like a nightmare. Stay away from them. AVOID

Horrible bank

Awful bank. My insurer works with them. They put me through hell to get back money twice. If you get a refund check from an insurer, you shouldn't need to join the bank they pay it with. A quick call to verify should be enough. I had to fight them for days.

Horrible service

I have 2 mortgages with them for rental homes. They keep changing my PO Box address online so mail becomes undeliverable. Customer service will disconnect you when you try to discuss a problem.

Never had a bank mess up my life like this one. They charge me $92.50 plus a bunch of fees every month. I’m on disability, pulling $967 monthly. When I joined, I was in a homeless shelter on 28th Street and Washington in Phoenix, Arizona. After I moved to low income housing, guess what, they showed up again here too. They hit me every two weeks, preying on folks who can’t afford lawyers to sue them. I feel like I’ve been turned into a banking target, and they let vendors pull money from my account that isn’t there. I don’t even have a Straight Talk phone, and they still overcharge me with ATM fees. I’d only use the ATM once, but they hit me with six $3 charges. They’re the worst thing I’ve ever dealt with. I don’t like them. I closed my account on October 7, 2025. I have nothing good to say about them, nothing. They’re the worst bank in the United States. Every time I asked for help, they ignored me, and more fees kept piling up on every paycheck I finally got at last.

They told me that since I wasn't a PNC customer I would be charged $37.50 to cash a check drawn on a PNC account! Hello there! Are you grasping the stupidity of this setup? The dumb employee who made this wild policy is narrow minded and clearly does not see that such a rule won't make the non-customer sign up with PNC but will push the non-customer to do all they can to stop anyone from ever joining PNC. That sure sounds like a bad idea.

New Online Banking "Upgrade" Really a Downgrade!

In over a decade, I can't recall ever having a truly bad experience with customer service. Online banking had treated me fairly well, too, until now. This note comes from the latest upgrade to the Online Banking site, which, in short, is terrible. The site's functions have been trimmed back so far that it mostly sits idle. I, like many others, always set up monthly bills, transfers, and more. In other words, Future Date Transactions. That is what it should do. The upgrade has erased this feature. You cannot arrange a Future Date Transfer anymore! Utterly useless! Picture planning a vacation and getting your money ready ahead. With this change, you can't, and you must pause your trip to handle finances. Absolutely unacceptable. I know online banking hasn't always worked. (I even worked for a rival bank in the past.) I still remember when it first launched. This feels like three steps back, honestly. There are many features that got harder or vanished, but this takes the crown of foolishness. Every little task takes longer, and the options you rely on are buried in menus. I liked the clean layout, the quick payments, the clear balance view. Now it feels cluttered, slow, and clumsy, like a confusing app. I reached Corporate Client Relations, skipping Customer Service to flag the mess for the bosses. A few days later, she said she spoke with the online team and that this is deliberate. I am utterly sick of what the Online Banking folks have done to their customers. They've crippled what people rely on, and they call themselves serving us. So yes, I'm unhappy.

Declined to give me a HELOC though I have a FICO Score of 850

Across many years, I’ve kept checking and savings at two credit unions, and with Wells Fargo and Chase, financed cars through Harris Bank and Bank of America, and carried mortgages with Wells Fargo and PNC. PNC is by far the worst bank I’ve ever dealt with. Some years back we bought a new house and got the loan through the builder. About a year after moving in, the loan got moved to PNC. Whenever I had spare money, I paid toward the loan until about $10k was left. We also own a rental place that’s been renting for more than 12 years. I planned to apply for a HELOC because the rental needed a new AC, and I had just paid for fresh floors, new countertops, and a new bath and surround in the main bathroom of the rental. PNC asked me to keep the main card at a zero balance. How can I reach zero on the card I use most, with monthly charges every month? I paid it down and showed the agent a zero balance. But soon after, the home security firm charged $29 to that card, and PNC still blocked my HELOC, even with a FICO of 850 and a Vantage of 834. Over years with PNC, I never missed a mortgage payment. Yet they blocked the HELOC because of that $29 charge. Now I plan to pay off the loan sooner and will try a HELOC at one of the credit unions I’ve used before. AVOID PNC BANK. All the little obstacles and their petty rules show me they value paperwork over people. My experience with every other bank has been smoother, so I’ll close this loan soon and move to a credit union I already trust. If you want a simple line of credit, stay away from PNC. This is my plan.

My experience using this bank before…

Dealing with this bank before I moved was a rough experience, The HELOC process overall is poor and i want to warn others. Discovering SPACE BANK and how it operates lifted my view. I will stay with them forever because they always keep their promise. SPACE BANK now feels safer.

Edgar Mercedes is why I stay with PNC Bank. His help should be bottled and sold, super handy. I tell anyone to check out the Port St Lucie branch on US-1. The service is nice, and I trust it here daily.

They are totally dense… they send lines like "let me show you how to view your statements on the site" as if every user who banks with them is not sharp. Then the site says, "bank statement not available right now." By FDIC standards they do not keep statements ready. They are utterly awful. I asked for my statements for my account at least 50 times… they are free to view on their site, which won’t load the statements. In the last half year I’ve asked for statements I finally spoke with one friendly person. She could not send the statements but got data to move it up to people who call at bad times. Think early morning, or mid workday. They simply don’t answer their phones after 5pm eastern time, 4pm cst or 3pm in many parts of the country… you call back and you get a message. They are unable, unprofessional, and try to make it sound like you as the banker are dumb because their site won’t work. This is a nightmare. All I can say is run. Run far away from PNC. It seems they can reply to my lawyer so I can get statements. What a total waste of time, effort and brain cells. If you value your money, steer clear and save your nerves from this place.

Horrible new bill pay page

Honestly, we’ve stuck with PNC for 8 years. Still, the new bill pay page is rough! Not easy to use. Too many steps to pay a bill. Totally awful! Needs to go back to the way it was, because it was easier and quicker to finish things. I hate the new version, so much!! They should fix it soon.

Long-Time Customer, Yet Refused Any Help After 13 Years
Back in January 2011 I opened a PNC student loan for $25,000. I finished school in May 2012, and after the grace period ended in November 2012, I started steady payments. I finished school in May 2012, and after the grace period ended in November 2012, I started steady payments. Over about 13 years, I’ve paid $32,000 toward the principal and $23,500 in interest — totaling over $55k — but I still owe $7,100. Even with years of on-time payments and loyalty, my rate is now 12.18%, which seems way high for someone with this payment history. I recently asked PNC to adjust the rate or refinance, hoping they’d value my long record. They said no. As a comparison, SoFi is offering around 6.52% with an extra 0.25% for autopay — almost half of what PNC holds. It’s upsetting to see big banks like PNC ignore long-term, careful borrowers. If you’re thinking about a student loan, look elsewhere. If a company won’t reward loyalty or give fair refinancing after more than ten years of good faith payments, why join the customer base in the first place? My monthly bills crept up after each rate rise, and I still honored the plan, even when it meant sacrifices.
