Way too many rough moments with this bank, I can't believe it. I moved to the UK from Norway, so I was new here and had no utilities bill or lease to show to open an account. This put me in a stuck loop I couldn't escape. They refused to accept an ID, a passport, a residence permit, not even the change of address letter that HMRC would issue when you arrive. Nope, zero flexibility at all. They wouldn't even take the Norwegian bank statement showing my new UK address, I was living at my in-laws. They asked for an electric bill, which I had never seen this strict rule in my life, inviting scams there. Then when I had to do a chargeback, I sent everything they asked, yet they emailed back saying I hadn't provided any support. Sure, reading emails and opening attachments isn't easy for everyone. Not everyone is a whiz with IT. Anyway, keeping the money won't fix this. It's just that it feels like all banks in the UK pull similar stunts, so I guess I'm out of luck. The whole process felt slow, cold, and distant, like they assumed I was trying to scam them too. I left frustrated, broke, and tired of explaining my life story to strangers. Not worth it.

Three weeks after it moved to Nat West I used the online complaints form to ask for it to be cancelled. I can't sign up for online banking, so I can't pay the card or see my transactions. I want nothing to do with these if this is their service, I warn any customers to tread carefully.
Stay away because their support is poor. They messed with my online banking, which led to me being locked out when I tried logging in. When I spoke up they admitted the error but blamed me, which was unfair. Stay away!

Why does it take so long?
Popped into the Leeds city centre branch today for a simple task I preferred not to do on the app. We sat for about 20 minutes on the green chairs, like waiting in a clinic. Popped into the Leeds city centre branch today for a simple task I preferred not to do on the app. We sat for about 20 minutes on the green chairs, like waiting in a clinic. Then they moved me to a pod and a very friendly staff member handled the case. My issue is... Why did it take so long to deal with this, since it added up to 35 minutes, which felt crazy during a 1 hour lunch break. I also bank with Leeds Building Society and you can walk straight to a counter and be out in under 10 minutes. Not a great NatWest experience today. Hope they fix this soon. So other people don't wait there.

They not protect me as a customer, they guard themselves, I am really sure.
I began a credit dispute request. Each time I answered NW follow-up, they took 10 business days to reply. Eventually they rejected my claim without grounds and stopped communicating. Frustration grows as the clock keeps ticking and nothing changes for me.
They shield racist staff, I’ve filed a complaint about my time at the local branch in east London. I’ve filed two complaints about the issue & the outcome was that I made it up & by using the word “probability” I started the issue. Cameras could show what happened but no audio. Anyway.

Wow, I can't reach any real help about my new card. The whole thing has been cold and confusing. Trying to sign into the app just loops me around. I'm in my 40s so you can guess how an older person would cope. Wish I had read the reviews first before I picked this card. Now I doubt I'll ever use ... My payment was marked as possible fraud by mistake, and all my accounts were locked. After five calls within a day, they still haven't unlocked my access, and I must drive to another town to show ID at a branch. They've treated me like a criminal. Really awful behavior. Every call wore me out.

Error trying to set up Standing Order…
App trouble making a Standing Order through the app, and on the phone I waited about 30 minutes. I finally spoke to someone who put me on hold again because they had the same issue with the Standing Order, only for the call to drop. Nobody called me back, so I had to dial in again and I'm still waiting for about 20 minutes...Just to finish the Standing Order! Wish I hadn't switched to Natwest. Do not use it! Avoid Natwest, by all means!
Stopped by NatWest on High Street Kensington on 09 October 2025, and Marine offered me plenty of help. She was calm, professional, and really cared about me as a customer! I walked out pleased, feeling her support had made a real difference today.

MOST INCOMPETENT BANK EVER
I feel NatWest is where all the failed bank workers end up when they can't get work anywhere else. How are you supposed to sell your car to a dealer, they send the money by bank transfer and NatWest say it is fraud? You hand the sale receipt, proof from a real dealer, proof you owned the car, and... I feel NatWest is where all the failed bank workers end up when they can't get work anywhere else. You hand the sale receipt, proof from a real dealer, proof you owned the car, and they say they checked it but still end up stopping your account. It takes 60 to 90 working days before they send it. How do they expect people to live? PURE AND UTTER FRAUD AND INCOMPETENCE BY THIS BANK. DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE! It is not how a bank should treat people who need help.

This review sticks to my run with customer support, it took 32 minutes to reach someone, and once connected it was clear I spoke to people overseas, they couldn’t get my message, called me Mr Steven which is my name, and the call had to end because this mess of a chat, I tried again and asked for... Their 'Cora' won't understand the word probate either. I'll move on.
Not impressed with this bank at all. Their mortgage team is full of people who can't do their jobs properly. We were lied to several times by Natwest and their so-called mortgage advisors. What a joke around here they all should go, the bank should shut down, staff break the rules and that’s illegal so that means we can do illegal things and no one can stop it anywhere nearby for anyone listening

Each time I contact support, they say they’ll get back to me in 2 or 3 days, but nobody ever follows up. They said there was an issue with the digital signature, which I already fixed and was told everything was fine — but since then, nothing has progressed. There’s no real update or clear talk about what’s happening. I’ve had a business account with this bank before and expected professionalism, but this delay and lack of response are unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this service to anyone based on what I’m dealing with now.
