Definitely worth it, nice move.

They kept asking for more papers, first saying email or post copy was fine, then today calling to want the originals?! I can't trust this lot at all; they have all my details and I'm still annoyed. It's not enough, and I won't send my original passport. Anyway, your loss CSB, as I'm not moving my money to you ever. Sort your stuff out, because for an all-online bank you are doing a pretty awful job and you'll never win new customers?! Bottom line, I won't trust you with any more of my money. Again.

On the thirteenth, another email arrived, with chatter, no background to the issues we faced, and they never managed to contact me, which felt untrue; they never tried calling, and line shows up in every note. CSB lacks integrity, transparency, and professional ethics, leaving a clear impression from how they talk online. Replying through our call centre feels endless, yet they still cannot explain where things went wrong, no matter what you ask. Somewhere else I would take a lower rate, never a problem with other banks I use these days. Just began a second note to Tv's Watchdog again. UPDATE: 15 OCTOBER 2025. CSB ISSUES RESOLVED. CSB did try to reach me earlier. Still, I had not told CSB about any number change. They called yesterday by phone, dialing a number provided by email successfully.
Site easy to use and the sign-up was simple. I previously saved with Charter but had to reapply after the account closed when my bond matured - likely a security check. Rates are usually competitive, so it’s worth watching them on days when markets shift.

Painfully slow at transfering an…
Dragging feet moving an existing ISA, and while that drags on, the client ends up poorer from missed interest. The whole process lasts weeks, often months. You may gain more later, but you waste time waiting, and you lose value.

So frustrating.
Really annoying from start. I tried to set up an isa for my son to park his cash while he starts uni. It took ages to authenticate and I had to ring them for over six weeks to figure out what they needed, as an 18yr old doesn't have much ID yet. Finally they accepted what we sent and they opened the account, giving us 30days to authenticate and move the funds. Had to wait for him to come home since he was nervous about moving 1k, on day 12 we met and found they had closed the account that morning because we took too long??? What a strange 30days. Really gross frankly. Only giving 2 stars because the call centre was okay. Too late for us though. We'll go somewhere else now.

Trying to renew my maturing fixed rate cash ISA through my online account turned out to be a letdown. The rate I got was lower than what a new fixed rate cash ISA would offer. So I headed to Castle Trust Bank to move it in at a nicer rate. Once it matured, the transfer went into their bank, and then they sent the funds to CTB by cheque instead of a cash transfer, which caused a delay where they held my money a few extra days. I'm used to slow withdrawals from my "instant" access savings, but this cash ISA move was the last straw for me.
Whenever I call them, they always help me, friendly and quick.

It all seemed much slower to change ISA…
Getting the switch to ISA providers took longer than it should have. It's not helpful to ask a client to move quickly when the providers drag their feet. Their slow actions behind the scenes made the process drag on.

The renewal rate they offered was very low, lower than what they advertised, like they were guiding you to take the easy lower option. So I moved my money to another bank, set everything up in good time, but no! there was one lie after another, I had to apply at least three times, and it took three weeks. I won't be back with this bank. The staff felt distant, never helpful, and every answer felt like another delay. I regret staying long.

They want loads of info but aren't clear on what is okay. For example they want a bank statement to prove my address. But they didn't ask for the choice account, so I sent a different one. Now they're asking for that one. They also want highly sensitive personal info, yet there is no secure portal offered. It feels like a huge breach for any company, telling customers to email such private docs. They don't seem to care what might happen because of it. Even I could give others a secure portal. There are countless free options. A financial firm should be required to provide this, and it's hard to believe there's no rule forcing it. I've written to ask for a secure portal, and I warned I might pull my application. They're not the only bank, and this is only for a savings account. I'm not asking for a loan. I'll update this based on their reply. But I feel so strongly about it now, and the awful app process, I had to warn others. If they fix this, I might rethink; until then, warn others widely for safety.
