I used Bigcommerce for not long before seeing my wordpress stats drop fast. Since then I moved my site and things are back to normal... Then I got charged an annual fee because I apparently hadn't cancelled it properly. I messaged support to ask for a refund but they wouldn't return the money even though I hadn't used them for months. Looking at the reviews below it's clear it's why folks are dropping them fast. I still get messages from Wordpress saying they're about to charge my card for this or that service that I've signed up to and forgotten about... Which gives me time to go in and cancel the service before I'm charged. I'm genuinely shocked how bad Bigcommerce is - please take everyone's advice and don't use them!! Now I warn friends away and tell them to watch the small print, or they might lose time and money too. It's just not worth it.

They shut down my store with no warning and won't reopen it until I pay for a year of pro service I don't want. Scammers and fraudsters from what was once a solid Australian developed company. Such a shame. Poor treatment, I'm glad to leave.

An upgrade lands on your account without asking, then you get charged for something you never agreed to. When you ask for a refund, they keep the money and the credit, so you must spend it there. In every view, it feels like they took your money and never gave back to you.

Truly awful. You can only build a desktop version that works, then you must hire another developer to create a mobile site with different software. I owned the URL and my Google business listing was gone, so I had to reestablish ASAP because it hit my business. If not, I would have lost sales.

If something goes wrong, you hear it's a BC problem, then the BC team says it's the app's fault-back, trust me. Steer clear of this nightmare; we're already looking at other options. Obviously the nice reviews of BC look fake, or from buyers who don't know much online selling these days. We tried reaching support many times, only to be bounced around between departments and apps.

Spent lots on google ads to boost sales, and once we got busy and hit around 192K in sales, the fee rose from 70 USD to 299 USD, then after a few months up to 399 USD (for the same ~190K sale). I moved to Word Press Woo commerce costing me around 2000 USD for web design and lost some links, but at least if my sales pass 400K I still pay just a few dollars for server. In Big Commerce "Prices" page it says for sales over 400K need to contact them to negotiate the fee. ( no clear amount!!!!) basically they can say any amount and you have to agree or close your site and lose a lot of customers and sales. Advice: from the begining pay someone to get your own website caz you will have to do it later with a bigger cost. I wish I started with my own site from the start instead and save money.
Online help is awful. I just tried it and expect more questions, since even reaching chat or email takes forever and is hard to believe.... Based on that, I won't use them; SHOPWIRED looks better, but their epos link is very poor. The gap between talk and help exists.

Avoid this shop now. As your store grows, they push costly upgrades on you because sales rise. I wouldn't trust them with my business at all.

When you chat with them they really listen and work to find a fix for your problem. I would tell anyone to use Big Commerce! It's helped my business stay steady too.

The list could go on, but the bottom line is stay away. Here’s a real chat with their support. Me: I launch with 10 products and add 10 more. How do I pick which ones show on Google? Julie G: I’m not sure this is possible; it seems you decide to list a product or not in the Google Ads you create. Julie G: Thanks for your patience. For now, the full catalog only can sync to the channel, and picking a subset isn’t doable. WHAT THE ACTUAL F?! So angry I wasted two weeks of my time. - The dashboard is cluttered, and change feels buried. - I wasted guessing where options live, only to find them hidden. - Support kept looping, giving vague answers instead of real fixes. - It broke my automation twice, then said it was working. - If you rely on product sync, look elsewhere. Avoid this tool if you value your time; it wastes hours and breaks plans.

After over ten years with BigCommerce, I can't say I would recommend them anymore. I stuck with them through plenty of price bumps, but the new bills are just too much. After over ten years with BigCommerce, I can't say I would recommend them anymore. I stuck with them through plenty of price bumps, but the new bills are just too much. I started on the $29.95/mo plan and now pay about $400 each month because they keep upgrading me for my sales, even though I sell handmade items and my numbers don't mean profit. A little over a month ago I paid $235 for a new theme and none of the features worked. I have texted and emailed back and forth with BigCommerce, sent them screenshots of the issues, and still I ended up using my old theme from years ago. I asked for a refund and they would not refund me for a theme that won't run. They just tell me to talk to the developer, even though I bought it on THEIR site and they said a refund would happen if I had screenshots. This is the last straw. I am moving to another platform. They can kiss goodbye to my $400/month. No more excuses from them.
